Misson Trip
This past August, a group of High School youth went to Casa Hogar
Elim, an orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
On our mission trip we not only got to stay with and care for the
children at Casa Hogar Elim, we got to show them a fun time by leading
a day camp for them. Each day during day camp we sang songs, read
the kids a Bible story, acted out the story and made crafts. We
were also given the opportunity to help out within the community.
We went to a worship service lead by Mama Lupita, and we brought
food out to Colonia Navidad - a very impoverished area of Nuevo
Laredo. We also had a huge fiesta, because two of our high school
youth had birthdays on the trip (and it was fun for the kids!).
All in all it was a super experience!

Upcoming Confirmation Events
Feed My Starving Children and a Fun Fall
Event:
On Saturday, Sept. 27th we are going to Feed My
Starving Children! Please meet at St. John's at 11:00am. After our
service event, we are heading to Emma Krumbee's for some outside
fall fun! This event costs $5.00, which covers wagon rides, a maze,
the Tombstone Forest, and much more! There is also food available
to buy, so if you think you'll be hungry, bring extra money for
food. We will be returning to St. John's at 4:30pm. Please remember
to sign-up! We will be outside so make sure to dress for the weather.
Highway Clean up:
THANK YOU to everyone who came to our highway clean-up
day last Saturday. Because of the rain, we did not actually clean-up
the highway, so we have rescheduled highway clean-up for Saturday,
Oct. 4th from 9-11am! We don’t want to reschedule again because
this date is already in October! So we are going to try and clean
the highway for sure on this date, so dress for the weather! We
will meet at Cross of Peace to have donuts and juice for breakfast
before we head out to clean up the highway. See you all there!
Fellowship Night:
On Wednesday Octiober 8th we are having our first fellowship
night of the year with St. John's, at Cross of Peace. Come hungry
because we will have pizza for dinner! We will also be playing and
worshipping outside, so dress for the weather!
Gustavus Retreat:
Our first Gustavus retreat of the year is on Saturday October
11th! We will meet at Cross of Peace at 9am and return back at 9pm.
At Gustavus we will have a campus tour, play games, sing songs,
and have a Bible study with a Gustavus Youth Outreach team, have
some free time to play in the gym and swim in the pool, watch a
movie, and learn about God through Bible stories. Please bring money
for meals, and don't forget to sign up!

On Wednesday October 15th there will be no confirmation class because
of MEA.
